Automated Ultrasonic testing (AUT)

Automated Ultrasonic testing (AUT) of welds is accomplished by the mechanisation of a portable scanner populated with ultrasonic probes and a sophisticated data acquisition system. Performed by certified operators using production-proven hardware, AUT is widely recognized as the most accurate NDT method of detecting and sizing weld flaws in high-production environments.

Pulse-echo ultrasonic inspection techniques using Phased Array (PA) probes coupled with Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD) inspection provides very accurate weld flaw measurements. Welds are typically divided into zones (zonal discrimination) that are evaluated individually, with results reassembled into a comprehensive weld analysis.

Verispex takes this a step further and, when needed, adds linear and sectorial scanning to provide superior weld examination.
